Tullio Bernabei

Journalist and photographer since 1985, I have published over a hundred reportages in the major Italian magazines on subjects like: speleology, archaeology, mountaineering, adventure, underwater scouting, canyoning, mountain and cave rescue, ecology and tourism.

I am a member of the Italian Group of Tourist Press and have published 5 books and about 20 scientific works.
Author and director of documentary television programmes since 1988, I have won several international awards in this field. I have written and directed various geographic/explorative serial programmes for RAI, Mediaset, SKY (Macchina del Tempo, Marco Polo, National Geographic Italia), National Geographic International, Discovery Channel, France 3, La Cinquieme, Arte.

I am a consultant of major Italian TV networks and I cooperate with production and distribution companies in Italy, France, U.S.A., Mexico and South America. Additionally, I have had experiences as associated producer. In the last few years I have been working on an adventure fiction with a documentaristic base.
In 2001, I was the art director of the 1st International Film Festival "Man's Adventure" of Castellana Grotte (Puglia region, Italy).
From 1995 to 1997 I taught "Speleology and Carsism" at the Science and Art University of Chiapas (Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico), and since 1998, I have been working together with the “Natural History Institute" of Chiapas.

Environment advisor of various South American institutes, from many years I am particularly interested in the problems connected with management and preservation of carsic areas and underground water resources in Italy and abroad.
Chairman, since 1999, of the European Institute "Pangea" for environmental professional training, c/o Circeo National Park ( Lazio region, Italy). This school has professionally qualified, up to now, 526 national park guides and 250 between wardens and non-commissioned officers of the State Corps of Foresters.
Member of the Italian Alpine Club ( C.A.I.). Head, for the Lazio region, of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps for over 11 years.
From 1979 till today, I have planned and taken part in over 38 geographic expeditions in various places of the world. From 1993 to 1996, advisor of the Italian Speleological Association.
From 1999 to 2001, advisor of the Italian Canyoning Association.
From March 2000, Fellow International of the prestigious "Explorers Club " of New York, U.S.A.
Founding member of " La Venta Geographic Association", (specialized in the pursuit and carrying out of exploration projects in various places of the world, difficult to access), with which I won the “Rolex Award for Enterprise" in Switzerland, 1993.
